One Weekend: Two Ranges

Sunday in the Winds!

The video says it all: Another great day the Winds!

Chuck rides the Winds!
I was supposed to do a tour in the Tetons Sunday. I figured on my way over Saturday, I'd stop and make a few runs on West Angle. It started snowing a blowing pretty hard Saturday whiel I was skiing. Five runs later I loaded and headed toward Jackson. I got stopped in Moran, where they had Antelope Flats closed because of the drifting. After waiting an hour, I decided to bail and head back to Lander- ski/ ride the Winds Sunday instead. Glad I did, the Flats never opened until the next day.
A look a one of the aspects of West Angle that I skied Saturday.
While making my first run, I skied onto this- avi activity from earlier in the week no doubt. Spooky thing- just a week ago, I skied right over this- maybe twice.
Snow was good- a bit wind effected though. Not as good as last weekend.
Might have to click on this to see it. A line in down from the top- pretty windy up there!
Lower down, the skiing was better- nice little kick on this slope!

Video of part of one of five runs I did.

West Angle Mountain

Headed up.

Been a while since I skied West Angle- seriously anyways. The snow way awesome today. Nearly a foot of fresh powder- light and fluffy! Since they jacked up the parking area when they re-did the road, I parked in the pull-out before Togwotee Lodge and decided to speck out the terrain ablove that area. I hadn't really ever skiied this aspect of West Angle much before. It was really very good. 1000 ft. steep/ deep tree shots mostly. Felt like pretty safe terrain to me, which was nice, since I was solo for this one.

Nearing the top.

Looking down one of many shots.

Good stuff!

Pow face!

Weehoo!

The Tetons came into view in the afternoon, as clouds lifted.

Beautiful country.

Last run.

Wow! Some of the best all year, so far!

Did four runs in all. All of them went nearly to the top- 1000 ft.

A good day!

Another Notch

Headed up to "The Notch", February 4th, 2012

Finally I got up into the Winds this season. Conditions looked pretty promising after a 12 inche dump bumped the snow pack into the 50s (inches). This particular mountain always proves pretty good- especially early in the season. It worked out pretty nice this time as well!

My favorite video this season, so far.

Chuck neat the top of "The Notch"

Karla at the top.

Shad drops.

Weehoo! Pretty wind effected up top. Gotta do it though!

Chuck hucks!

Karla skis.

Good stuff!

After six runs, it was time to call it a day- had to pick up kiddos before 6pm.

Skinning off into the sunset.

Out on Christina Lake, taking one look back.
