Castle Rock Road MTB Ride

Tandem MTB Tour

Castle Rock Road

Absaroka Range (near the East Fork of the Wind River)

Why I have knots in my tail?

Hhmmmm... Is it human?

Kind of.

Met alot folks and family out at my dad's place last weekend for Locke's memorial. It was quite a time... just what she would have wanted. My sister Hope came up from DC, so before things got underway we got up early, saddled up the ol' tandem and went for a haul up the mountain. I needed 3 hrs, so I figured the Castle Rock climb would do - a 30 plus mile/ 3000 plus ft. climb/ ride. Worked out pretty good. The air was cool and the weather held. I'm sure Locke was smilin' down.

Hope rides stoker- the Windriver Mountains across the way in the background.

Going up... don't look down.

The "Devil himself".

2 hrs and 3000 vertical feet after we started, we reached the top of the first climb- Castle Rock in the background. That's all we had time for today- and all the road conditions would allow (snow drifts were still covering the road beyond).

On the way back we dropped into a beautiful draw for some tasty single track.

Yum, yum! Good stuff. Thanks Locke!
