Silas Canyon: Lander Llama Style

Silas Canyon: Lander Llama Style

Southern Winds, Popo Agie Wilderness Area, Shoshone NF

September 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2006

Tally flirts with Atlantic, the Llama- an old pal of hers from the last Llama trip she did, back in June. Tally's quickly becoming a seasoned wilderness kiddo. Ha!

The first day out, after we got to camp, Jacob and Ben joined me for a short jaunt up a 12,ooo ft. mountain. Ben and Jacob were both guests on the guided Llama trip. Lander Llama owner Scott Woodruff was gracious enough to let Mandy and Tally tag along on this trip. Thanks Scott!!

A view of Boulder Lake from the top of a nameless peak above Upper Silas lake.

Since Ben and Jacob were both photographer and film pros, I posed for a photo shoot on top of the nameless peak. Ha! You can see the Wishbone couloir and Mystery Meat Couloir in the background behind me in the photo on the right. Upper Silas and Lower Silas appear below me on the left hand photo.

Here's a view of the nameless mountain above Upper Silas Lake. Maybe I'll start calling it Silas Mt. I have a feeling that I'll be visiting it again this winter.

A good view of the naked Wishbone and Mystery Meat Sandwich couloirs, that I skied back in June and July.

Mandy demonstrates how Tallulah and her stop to smell the roses.

Scott flings flies on Island Lake. He actually landed a few nice Cut Throats too!

Tally loves riding mom.

She got a pretty big kick out of riding the Llamas too. On the left she gets a grip on Brighton's saddle. On the right, she samples Atlantic's rump.

While we were up there, I took Brighton and Atlantic rock climbing above Thumb lake.

Thumb lake wasn't high enough though for Ben though, so we went ahead to another couple of lakes above Thumb.

Looking down on Thumb Lake and Silas Canyon from the nameless lake above it.

Some hairy guy with a tiny hat and big shorts above Deer and Fawn lake.

Tally plays while Mandy and Ben enjoy Steak and Shrimp, or maybe it was Chicken Fetticini that night- either way the food always rocks with Lander Llama!

Tally in the morning and Tally at night.

A yearling amongt the livestock.

Tallulah entertains herself while we pack up camp.

Tally settles in on her smooth walking mount for the ride out.

Happy Trails!!
