High Marker Hill and The Notch Southern Wind River Range, Shoshone NF April 6th, 2008
High Marker Hill
April in the Winds!
Chuck and Karla prepare to ride.
Looking down Chuck's line.
The man behind the lines.
What can I say?
Ridem' Schuster!
Karla puts on a clinic...
Skiing the Winds!
A look back at the last few turns on one my runs.
Shredder Chuck, hard a work.
Abusing the pow.
Smokin'
Chuck said this was the worse snow we've skied all year in the Winds.
Fed up with the sub-stellar pow conditions down low, Chuck heads for bigger, steeper stuff- otherwise known as, "The Notch". Looking mighty filled in too, compared to my last close look at it.
Steep enough?
Chuck nears the top of "The Notch", Christina Lake below.
On top of The Notch.
Shad drops the steep, and cuts some slough loose (not as much as Chuck though- he cleared most of it out). Gave him goose bumps too.
Ridin' The Notch and racin' the slough!
Weehoo!
Out of the slough, on to the flats and off to the races!
A look back at our tracks on the Notch.
Karla skis the worst powder she's skied all year.
It was so bad, we skied 4,500 vertical feet of it (about six runs).
Terrible!
Just terrible.
One last look back at High Marker Hill and The Notch. (click to enlarge and see just how horrible it was)
Icing on the cake...
Tally kisses Seamus good night. She thought my camera case was a hat.
I'm a 4th generation Wyomingnite. I love the wilderness. I also get a kick out of biking, skiing, snow boarding, and snow machines. I like to eat animals. On occasion I shoot them and hang them on my walls.
