Sioux Pass/ Granite Peak

Sioux Pass/ Granite Peak Pow
Southern Wind River Range
March 15th, 2008

Chuck skins up near a run that was begging to be shredded.

The objective for the day was to explore the Sioux Pass area (an area about half way into Christina Lake). I thought maybe we'd take a stab at Pabst Peak. In reality I think we ended up on Granite Peak. The snow was incredible. On our way up we passed by so much grin inspiring terrain, that after summiting Granite Peak- it was time to ski. The heck with climbing boney peaks. Ha! We don't get pow like this every day!

A look at some more terrain on the way up. Yummy!

Hard to say, but I would guess this is Rennecker Peak or Pabst Peak.

This is probably just more of Granite Peak.

We started our hike from around Sioux Pass.

I raise a Pabst for Pabst Peak, wherever it is. Ha!

Karla looks back on our first little shot. The snow was superior, and the runs would get bigger.

The end of our first line.

Looking back at our lines on our way up for more. The weather was turning for the best.

Chuck was shaking and had drool running down his chin as he tried to tell Karla and I, with an ear to ear grin, that this run didn't look good. Ha! Actually if you click on the photo you can see our first lines at the very bottom of this run. We just tickled it. The run does curve around though, so you're really only seeing about half of it from this perspective.

Our first lines down the big run.

Karla skis it up!

A cool look at our lines on the way up for more.

Chuck rides.

Shad rides.

SERIOUS POWDER!

Sioux Pass down below, in the background.

Chuck makes another run on the main hill.

We got a few runs in... 3500 to 4000 vertical feet worth.

Shredded?

The weather became stellar. This is a look out across Sioux Pass towards Atlantic Peak and the whole Christina Lake bowl that we're usually playing in.

Karla voted to ski down the other side of the mountain we were on to get back to our sleds.

Good call, more great pow!

Chuck surfs the Winds!

Looking back at our final runs. Not quite as filled in as the other side of the mountain, but suprisingly, it was really good powder too.

The video sums the day up well...

Yet another great powder day in the Southern Winds.

Also, this week has been quite the week for me. After a long patient wait, my new ski partner finally came. March 13th at 6pm- almost 500 lbs and 151 inches long. It's a keeper...

Introducing my 2006 Skidoo Summit 800

With a 151 inch powder track and an 800 cc engine on a REV Chasis- watch out. Don't need no trail now. Let it snow! Ha!

Oh! Wait! It gets better...

My son was born this week too...

Seamus (pronounced shay-mus) Ray Tinker Hamilton was born on March 11th, 2008 around 3:30pm. He weighed 7 lbs and was 18 inches long. He's awesome!

Tally loves him too...

"Beebee!", she says.

Life is good.
