Park and ski.

It's been a few years since I tackled this peak. The last time I did it was back in March of 2006 (that's when I dubbed in Coyote Nipple Peak- dunno why- I think I saw a coyote that day, and well- from a distance it looks like a...). You can go back and look at that March 06 TR on my blog. There was more snow. The Winds really are looking rather skimpy right now. We haven't skied them much this year for that reason- pretty much no snow since December/ Jan. SNOTEL indicated they received a good eight inches this week though, so we thought we'd make a run up there- see what it was like. Like always, even when conditions aren't the best, we found enough snow and terrain to keep us entertained. Also found evidence of other skiers (tracks)- a NOLS trip. Don't usually see them up there. Interesting.

Chuck traverses up the canyon.

Chuck got the two stick itch. He's been getting jealous of Kara's transition time. Ha! He wanted to taste some of that dynafit/ AT magic for himself. Plus be cracked his snow board bind and was too lazy to fix in time for this trip. I let him try out my K2s for this adventure. The K2s new the way- they made the trek back in 06.

Popping up, over a ridge, the peak comes into plain view.

Charge!

Time to boot.

Chuck makes his way up another aspect of the peak.

Near the top of Coyote Nipple Peak.

Preparing to ski.

Chuck rips it up!

Throwing in a power turn, showing off for the camera!

"I'd rather be boarding."

A look a back at our lines down the peak. Classic Windriver schralping conditions.

Chucks skis off into the sunset.

After 4 to 5K of vertical, a welcome sight! Another great day in the Winds!
