Prior's First Run in the Winds

New Arrow, New Peak Christina Lake Area Feb. 4th,2006

Decided to try out an new run and Peak in the Christian Lake area this weekend. My goal was the smaller peak that's front and center in this photo.
Not that I'm keeping track, but I realized this weekend, that I might very well have the first ski/ snowboard decents on over a dozen peaks ranging from 10,000ft to 13,000 ft. in this area. Maybe kind of interesting I suppose.

Left the house aroudn 6:30am and started motoring from the Louis Lake Parking Lot by 7:3oam. I was skinning before 9am.

This would be the first run in the Winds for the newest arrow in my quiver.

Introducing....

My new Prior Split Board. Way cool. Beats the hell out of snow shoes for climb. And, board are just way fun to drop stuff on. Me thinks they may not be the ticket for long tours, but it was perfect for today.

A view of the East facing aspect looking into Atlantic canyon that I dropped a few times, before heading up to the top of the mountain. Had three runs in before 10:30am!

Started to head up the rest of the mountain around 11:00am

Makin' marks!

A view looking into the Big Mountain bowl and the drainage I dug my camp out of last weekend.

Looking up Atlantic Canyon, from one of the aspects I dropped. Big Mountain Bowl.

Looking down the run towards Christina Lake from the top. Dropped this run around noon.

A view of my gear on top of the Peak.

The line down from the top. Better than I expected. So good, I had to drop it a few more times.

Same hill, different line. Got a few more runs in before I was spent. Decided to head back to the machine around 2:00pm

Pretty cool stuff! Plus, Mandy loved it cause I was home before 4:00pm. Dunno I'll do that agian though, she made me go to Walmart with her. Uhhggg! Ha!
