Granier Meadow Madness

Three Feet of Wet Silliness!

South Pass, Granier Meadow Spring Sled/ Ski Fest

May 21st, 2011

Loaded up and ready to the Louis Lake Parking Lot on South Pass.

Rippin' and Shreddin' by any means possible!

A day after three feet of snow fell on South Pass, it proved irresistable. Chuck and I had to go try it out. We were hoping to at least get into Sioux Pass or Mt. Seamus, but did know exactly what conditions would allow. There was plenty of snow (3 feet plus). The problem was that it was very heavy and wet. It proved kind of challenging to drive in. The trails were non-existent. Groomers stopped running in March, and nobody had been out on sleds for weeks. We ended up getting stuck and bogged alot. After slogfesting our way a few miles past granier, we decided to bail out. The work it was and risk we were takign that'd we cook a sled or get one stuck really bad, just wasn't work it. We turned around and headed back to Granier Meadows, where there were some small hills we could get som turns on. We also took some time to shred the meadow up pretty good.

The skidoo, stuck for the 3rd or 4th time going in. This is where we turned around.

Quite a day! Not what we were hoping for, but we made the best of it. My arms are sore as heck today. Ha!
