Pow Fest on the Switchbacks

Backyard Powder: The Switchbacks above Sinks Canyon
April 1st and 2nd, 2010

I had Thursday and Friday off this week and it was pukin' pow. Had nothing better to do than go up the canyon and speck it out. To my surprise, it was stellar. There was a shallow, but rock hard base finally from dumps in March. On top of that- maybe 10 inches of powder Thursday and closer to 15 plus Friday. Both days I went solo. It sure is nifty being able to snag good fluff less then ten miles up the road from the house. Hard to beat!

Taking aim on my first run Thursday.

Looking down on a couple of runs.

Farmin'!

Before it was done I got eight laps in.

The next day, looking up at my tracks (or what was left of them). I was stoked to see they were nearly filled in- that meant even deeper pow today!

Sluuurrp!

Preparing to drop my first line of the day.

Weehoo! Even stuck a little kicker- sure sign it's gonna be a good day!

Droppin' from the guard rail! Sinks Canyon below.

Throwin' the horns!

Oh yea! Good stuff!! My skidoo parked below.

The grin!

Wind River Peak

Did four runs today- they were quite a bit longer (at least twice as long) than yesterday's shots- maybe just short of a 1000 ft?? Dunno. I do know it was good powder though.

My rock skis. No rocks today though- notta one!

Looking back. Another fabulous day in the Winds- so close to home too! Lucky duck.
