Elk, Deer and Antelope in 24 hrs
The cabin (full moon behind)
Been heading up to the cabin about every weekend now trying to get it dried in before winter hits. It hit hard lots already though. One weekend I had to snowshoe in. Been hunting a bit the last couple weekends in between work on the cabin. Even went up a couple of times after school. Had some close calls last week- missed a shot. Been seeing lots critters. Everything seemed to come together this weekend though... starting Sunday evening.
The cabin and my snow shoe track a couple of weekends prior.
Elk down!
Saturday I got onto a big bunch on the north side of Timber Top Mt above Lander. 50 head coming right at me... and the jeep on the road. Some kid decided to start lobbing 1000 yard shots though, and turned them all around before I got a chance. Later that evening I visited with some folks that saw a dozen or so head pop out on the south side of Timber Top. That's what gave me the idea to walk the south ridge of Timber Top Sunday evening. It paid off!
Our cabin is right by head in the white, snowy saddle in the background. Pretty cool, I think!
Packed the head back out to the jeep that night.
The next morning, as I was getting up, getting ready to drag elk, this little guy decided to walk by the cabin. Three point on one antler... spells... MEAT.
So... I clobbered a deer to start the day.
Then I hiked up to my elk to drag it down the mountain. The little black square past the dead tree in the center of the picture, way below the elk is the jeep. Took the better part of an hour to tug it down there.
One elk and one deer... all loaded up. Good thing the seat folds up. Ha!
Got back to Lander before noon. Since I had to take the day off any way, I figured I'd go out and see if I couldn't fill my antelope tag too. So I load up the ol' dodge and headed out. The little two track I drove down had a big heard of speed goats at the end of it. So, I took aim once more.
Breakfast Sausage!
The ol' dodge.
What a day! Elk, deer, and antelope... all inside of 24 hrs. Gotta love Wyoming!
